We consider “sustainability” to be the intersection of our environment, economy and social community. Like many mountain resort destinations, our economy is highly dependent on tourism—while Vail is home to about 5,000 local residents, we welcome 3.7 million guests every year. Since the ski area’s founding in 1962, and the Town’s incorporation in 1966, we’ve focused on balancing tourism growth with the needs of our local environment and community.
