The Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness Plan is a high-level, strategic approach to implementing the goals of the GoEV City Resolution, which was adopted by Vail Town Council in October of 2021. The GOEV City Resolution is a pledge to move the town toward 100% zero emissions transportation, and closely aligns with the town's climate action goals of a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030 and 80% by 2050.
The EV Readiness plan was developed with thorough input from citizens, the Planning and Environmental Commission, various Town of Vail departments, and Town Council. The plan promotes a vision of clean transportation and mobility. Walking, biking, and public transportation are paramount towards achieving this vision. When a single occupancy vehicle is required, and electric vehicle is currently the best option for reducing emissions, especially when powered by the Holy Cross Energy power supply, which aims to be 100% zero emissions by 2030.
The EV Readiness Plan is divided into five sections, including infrastructure, fleets, policy, community, and micro-mobility. Each of these sections contains strategies to achieve the goals of the plan, including programs, policies and projects that increase the benefits and reduce the barriers of owning and operating an EV.
The plan was officially adopted by Town Council on May 2nd, 2023. Check out the EV Readiness Plan and GoEV City Resolution to learn more about the goals and strategies outlined to achieve them.
