 50% Reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions by 2030

80% Reduction of GHG Emissions by 2050 

The Town of Vail adopted the goals of the Climate Action Plan for the Eagle County Community in 2017 and the 2020 Climate Action Plan Update in 2021. The GHG reduction targets are set from a 2014 baseline inventory. 

We are actively engaged in the regional Climate Action Collaborative (CAC), a group of local governments, businesses, schools, special districts and nonprofits tasked to implement the recommendations of the Climate Action Plan for the Eagle County Community. 

The Collaborative meets on a rolling basis throughout the year, and includes working groups focusing on emission reductions from:

• buildings (residential & commercial),
• transportation,
• waste and the landfill, and
• our energy supply.

There are also working groups dedicated to water conservation and natural climate solutions in the Eagle Valley. Town of Vail has representation on all 6 of the CAC working groups.
